Sweden’s first national bike trail, the Kattegattleden, debuted in 2015, offering cyclists an unforgettable 390 km coastal route from Helsingborg to Gothenburg. Winding along the scenic Swedish west coast, the trail passes through seaside villages, nature reserves, hidden beaches, and local food spots, and has quickly become one of Europe’s most celebrated long-distance cycling routes. We’ve been running tours on the Kattegattleden since 2019, and this year also marks the 10th anniversary of the trail itself.
Over the years, the Kattegattleden has been continually enhanced to make it safer, more accessible, and even more enjoyable for cyclists of all levels. The trail now features clearly marked signage and improved surface quality, including dedicated bike lanes where possible, ensuring smooth riding from Helsingborg to Gothenburg. Bridges, ferries, and crossings have been upgraded for safety, and rest stops along the route now offer comfortable shelters, bike repair stations, and easy access to refreshments.
In addition to these practical improvements, the trail experience has been enriched with a growing range of high-quality services and cultural experiences. Cyclists can enjoy charming cafés, local bakeries, and farm-to-table eateries, while also discovering scenic viewpoints, nature reserves, historical sites, and small fishing villages that bring the region’s heritage to life.
With these thoughtful enhancements, it’s no surprise that our Denmark & Sweden: Copenhagen to Gothenburg Kattegattleden Bike Tour continues to be one of our highest-rated tours in Europe, offering a seamless blend of adventure, comfort, and local culture that keeps riders coming back year after year.

Tour Highlights
The adventure begins in Copenhagen, often considered one of the world’s great cycling capitals, where you’ll explore the scenic nature preserves of Amager Island before boarding a short ferry to Sweden and embarking on the Kattegattleden.
The trail’s close proximity to the coast ensures abundant opportunities for swimming, along with ever-changing views of fishing villages, peaceful nature reserves, and charming towns. You’ll also encounter a variety of cultural and historical highlights, including Iron Age burial sites, the elegant Sofiero Palace and Gardens, and the artists’ haven of Ängelholm.
Along the way, cozy cafés serving excellent coffee and classic Scandinavian pastries are plentiful, and the evolving landscapes invite you to stop often and capture unforgettable moments.
